Creative Scrappers

Just a quick post with a layout for sketch #170 at Creative Scrappers. It's due by today. :) So here is the sketch:
And here is my layout:

This started out as a page about Lachlan's 7th Birthday cake. I couldn't get the photos to fit properly (should have measured a little better! lol) so I used this photo of Michala instead. I've used some MME Mischievous papers on this one. I added a flower to make it a little more girly.

Best Weekend EVER!!

I have just returned from what would have to be the best retreat I have ever been on. I flew to Sydney to go to the Little Scrapbook Shop retreat at Kurrajong. All of the ladies are so lovely (and a little bit naughty! lol). I have not laughed so hard in a long time. I'd like to say a big thank you to Cath & Nic for all their hard work organising the weekend. The goodies we received were just amazing - we were each given a laptop bag and mountains of scrappy goodness!!

Cath asked me to teach a layout class at this years retreat. I've never taught a class before, so I was really nervous but the ladies seemed to enjoy it. We used the gorgeous Cosmo Cricket 'Odds & Ends' papers and made the flower using fabric and Glubers. Here it is:
I managed to scrap 18 layouts over the weekend! The shop was choc-full of new goodies and I spent waaaay too much but it was worth it! I won't bombard you with all 18 layouts at once so here are a few. The photo on this layout was given to me by the gorgeous Lisa Oxley - she took it at Camp Mojo.

I scrapped Lachlan's official school photo from this year. I've used the Fancy Pants range 'Off to School' on this one - love, love, love it!

This one is using the same range and a little bit of Echo Park 'Happy Days':

I love these photos of Michala - she sure looks like she's having fun! I've used another Fancy Pants range on this one. It's called 'It's the Little Things':

And again on this one:

I'll share the others over the next few days. Thanks so much for stopping by...

Another Sketch Anyone?

This time it's the August 15th sketch at Stuck. Here is the sketch:

And here is my take:

I have turned the sketch on its side. I couldn't think of a way to incorporate the circle so I left it out. Love, love, love this woodgrain paper from Studio Calico.

I couldn't think of a title either so went with 'm'! LOL

I've pleated some crochet trim as well:

I just love that cheeky little smile on Michala's face! Thanks for stopping by...

Quotes

I'm back again with a few more challenge layouts. At SUYS and Scrap The Girls this month the challenge is to use quotes. The quote at SUYS is 'Life is like a great big canvas and you should throw all the paint on it you can' - Danny Kaye. So I threw paint:

in lots of different colours. I've used some coloured doilies as well.

I love using bright, bold colours.

The quote at STG is 'Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it' - Harold Hulbert. This is my layout:

I've used some October Afternoon 5 & Dime on this one with some more Mister Hueys. :)

And used my Dymo labeller for the quote. Thanks so much for stopping by...

'There Was A Little Girl...

who had a little curl'. I always remember this saying from when I was a kid. And I think of it everytime I look at Darcie's beautiful blonde curls. This layout is based on Creative Scrappers sketch 169:

Here is my take on the sketch:

I've used some gorgeous Studio Calico papers on this one and used up some old chipboard and brads.
And I've added a bit of bakers twine too:

GumBoots

The kids wear their gumboots all the time on the farm. They are so easy for them to slip on and off when they go off to 'work' - so much easier than me having to help them put proper work boots on! I thought I would pay homage to them! This is the latest sketch on the Get Picky blog.

And here is my layout:

I've used some LilyBee designs papers, some Mister Hueys spray with a Prima mask and some Twiddlybitz Chipboard. I made some rolled roses:

And finished it off with these Thickers (thanks Donna!) - love these!

LSBS Step x Step

It was my turn this week to show you how to make a layout sprout in our tutorial series in the LSBS forum. You can find out what a layout sprout is here. I have used recycled packaging to create my sprout and here it is on a finished layout:

I decided to pull out some of my older stash and have used some BG oliver. Can you spot the Mister Hueys mists again? ;) And to keep with the recycled theme, I have used a rubber ziptie.

We are heading off tomorrow to spend the weekend at Donna's place. I'm looking forward to catching up and scrapping with the Dalby girls while the husbands look after the kids! :)

What's So Funny?

I'm back with another challenge for this month, this time it's from the 123 challenge blog. The criteria this month was black, the word 'what' and multi-photos. Here is my take:

I've used a bit of white Mister Huey's in the background and some Crate Paper 'Emma's Shoppe'. Thanks so much for stopping by...

Reach For The Stars

My darling husband took the kids to work with him this morning so while I had the house to myself, I thought I would scrap! :) This is my take on this months challenge at Scrap The Boys - to take inspiration from this cool pic of a boys bedroom:

And here is what I've come up with:

Once again I've used October Afternoon 'Rocket Age' (no surprises!). I've been on a bit of a quest to use up my old stuff as well so I have mounted this one on some coloured cardstock. I seem to have heaps of coloured cardstock but only really use white, black and Kraft.

And I've used some more embellies from A Lil Somethin. Love these fabric banners and the button in the photo above.

A Worthy Cause...

I woke up this morning to the tragic news that one of our scrappy friends had lost her husband in a car accident. :( I can't begin to imagine what she is going through right now and the next few weeks and months are going to be a very hard time for her and her boys. There is now a Facebook page aiming to raise funds to offer a bit of support. You can find it under 'A Jolly Good Cause'. And all donations over $2 are tax deductible. Please get behind this worthy cause and help a friend in need. Thanks to Tracey Shenton for setting this up.

(PS If you aren't on Facebook and would still like to donate email me at pieceofpaper@hotmail.com and I will send you the bank/payment details)

She's So Sweet.

Well, most of the time! LOL This is my take on the bonus sketch over at Stuck?! Sketches. Here is the sketch - created by the awesomely talented Julie Winks:
And here is my take:

I have used up lots of little scraps of Cosmo Cricket 'Odds & Ends'. I also pulled out my ric-rac, that I have heaps of and never use, to add a bit of something extra.

I've used a bit of foam tape to prop up the middle photo. I love the Kaiser tape - it seems a bit thicker than the express-it tape I normally use. I've added a crochet flower with a button I made with my I-top for the middle.

And I've used up some old Thickers. I had to cut the '8's into 'S's. I really need to start using up the stash I have! lol

And used a few staples to hold everything on! Thanks so much for stopping by...

Just A Quickie!

We are in the midst of preparations for Lachlan's 7th Birthday. He is having a slumber party tonight with a couple of his school mates. His birthday is tomorrow. I just thought I would quickly share with you his birthday card that I made this morning. I don't make cards very often and I think this is the most I have ever put on a card! LOL

I've used some cute October Afternoon 'Rocket Age'. *sigh* I just love this range.

This One's for You, Luke!

I was having a bit of a whinge to Luke the other day about my lack of mojo and how everything I create seems to look the same. His answer was 'Why don't you do that doodling like you did on that layout ages ago?'. I had to go and look up which layout he was talking about! I was dumbfounded that he even pays that much attention to what I do! LOL When I saw that this months criteria at White with 1 was white + purple + doodling, I thought I would give it a go again. So here is what I came up with:

I have doodled a frame around the photo and coloured some of the bits using a purple watercolour pencil.

I didn't have any purple alphas so I have sprayed these white ones with some purple Glimmermist. I have then doodled a border around them.

And added a few little other touches too.

Thanks Luke for the inspiration! And thanks to you for stopping by...

Scooter Boy

Wowzers! Two posts in one day - what's wrong with me? LOL I was blog hopping this morning, checking out all the new challenges for the month. I haven't played along for a little while so thought I would give this months challenge at Kraft It Up a go. It's a sketch challenge this month. Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:
We were in Dalby on the weekend for a friend's 40th. There is a skate park at the end of their street, so the kids borrowed some scooters and went for a ride. Living on a farm, there aren't too many places to ride a scooter so Luke and I were amazed at how good Lachlan and Michala were! They had no fear going down the little ramps. They looked like they had been doing it for years. Kids obviously have no fear.

I've used some foam tape to lift a couple of the photos. Can you spot the gorgeous embellies from A Lil Something on there too?

I've misted the background with Mister Hueys (I am in love with this stuff!) and stamped the grid pattern. And added some chipboard cogs.

And used some more Pink Paislee alphas and alphabet beads for my title.

New Life

I am really struggling with my scrapping lately. My mojo seems to have gone AWOL and when I do feel like scrapping, I'm not all that happy with what I end up with. :( I have tried using different techniques and different styles but they still don't seem to be 'me'.

I found this photo the other day when I was looking for something I hadn't scrapped yet. I took these photos over at our other property back in October last year - just when there were lots of little calves running around the place and new life everywhere. Luke found this baby plover when he was checking a pump, so he picked it up to bring it over and show the kids. I happened to have my camera and took some pics. I love how this cute little bird is sitting in Luke's 'farmer' hands. I have scrapped a layout that feels a bit like 'me' again.

I didn't have any white cardstock (shock horror!) so I pulled apart an old pizza box for my base. I've used some Bella Blvd papers and Pink Paislee alphas.

And a Gluber flower made using fabric and hessian.

In other news, I am going to be teaching my first ever class at this year's Little Scrapbook Shop retreat in Sydney at the end of this month!! I am so excited! (And a little nervous at the same time). I have just finished my sample page and a list of requirements is up in the forum for those who are attending.
